How to breeze through airport security

Airport SecurityWhen flying, one of the biggest headaches for many passengers is going through airport security. However, with our tips below, you can arrive prepared and spend as little time as possible waiting in the security line.

How to pack

If you are flying with oversized electronics, like laptops, gaming consoles, DVD players, or camcorders, in your carry-on bags, be advised that you will have to remove these items so they can be sent through the X-ray scanner separately. So pack them in a way that will help you easily get them in and out of your luggage.

You’ll also need to separate any liquids, gels, and aerosols from the rest of your items by bringing them in a clear, plastic, quart-sized, zip-top bag. Liquids must not exceed 3.4 ounces.

Also remember not to wrap any gifts that you bring along. Security officers may have to unwrap them for inspection at the security checkpoint.

Dress appropriately

Walk through the security line wearing as few accessories as possible. Belts and metal jewelry may have to be removed before you walk through the metal detector. It’s also a good idea to take everything from your pockets before you enter the security line. Keys, money, phones, and wallets will need to be removed from your person and scanned separately.

Your shoes will also need to be taken off and scanned on the X-ray machine. As such, you may want to wear shoes that are easy to slip off and on, and come in socks so you won’t have to walk directly on the airport floor.

With these simple precautions, you can breeze through security stress free. And for a ride when you land, just call Affinity!
