Eat Well While You Travel

Delicious omelet sandwichOftentimes, good eating habits are out of the window as soon as travelers hit the air. Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, with jam-packed schedules, a ton of things to see and do, and no grocery stores close by, it can be hard to maintain a healthy eating regimen. But with our tips below, you can learn how to eat well even out of town.

If you’re flying or taking a train from D.C., Maryland, or northern Virginia, use Affinity Airport Sedan for your ground transportation needs. Don’t worry with unreliable taxicabs or overcrowded shuttles. Just call Affinity!

While you travel

Before your trip, prepare your own in-transit snacks. In addition to giving you healthy alternatives to airport or train station options, bringing your own food can help avoid paying for overpriced items on your trip. Think nutritious foods that will travel well, like nuts and raisins or protein bars. And for fruit, go with something firm that won’t get smashed or leak juice, like apples or pears.

You’ll also want to stay hydrated. Opt for water, and drink plenty of it while you travel. You’ll just want to avoid sodas and alcohol, which can cause jet lag when you fly.

While you’re away

Away from home, make sure to keep lots of bottled water and healthy snacks like fruits, nuts, and granola bars, on hand. This can help you bypass sugary vending machine options when you get hungry later on. You’ll also want to steer clear of fast food places. While they may be easy and familiar, fast food options are often laden with fat and calories. Plus, they keep you from exploring local cuisine.

And whatever you do, remember to have a healthy breakfast. It can give you the fuel you need to power through your morning without splurging on junk food later on.

Eat well while you’re away. And for a dependable ride home after you land, you can always call Affinity!
