Music Center at Strathmore
The Music Center has hosted world-class rock, pop, jazz, blues, classical, and folk artists since 2005. This concert hall seats 1,976 and is the second home to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. In addition, the building’s education center holds a whopping 75 music education classes every week.
In addition to the sensational music acts and programs, the Music Center’s superb facilities keep visitors coming back. The building’s undulating roof was inspired by the very hills on the Strathmore’s 11-acre grounds. And the Washington Post described it as “the best place to hear an orchestra the Washington area has ever known.”
The Mansion at Strathmore
Built as a residence in 1899, the Mansion opened its doors to the public as a music center in 1983. The original Strathmore venue, the Mansion currently hosts small concerts in its 100-seat music room. In addition, each season the Mansion’s art gallery holds two-dozen art exhibitions from local artists and esteemed museums.
But the Mansion isn’t only about art. It hosts afternoon teas on Tuesdays and Wednesdays that feature soothing instrumentals performed by local musicians, a light catered lunch, and a specially made Strathmore blend tea. A 140-seat café accommodates hungry visitors throughout the week. And the Mansion’s shops offer creative handmade gifts and souvenirs.
