Travel Tips for Tourists with Limited Time

travel tipsNo matter how much time there is to visit a new city, it’s hard to see everything in just one trip. But with our travel tips below, you can make the most of the time you have while you’re there.

Plan in Advance

Take a little time to plan ahead. Try to cluster the attractions you want to see by their proximity to one another. You’ll save a lot of time by doing things in one area together, instead of hopping back and forth across town. And while you’re planning, it’s a great idea to try to make reservations. If you know you want to eat at a certain restaurant or visit an attraction — like the Holocaust Museum, where tickets are dispersed on a first-come basis — it’s a good idea to make reservations in advance to cut down on waiting time and ensure that you can get in. It’s also smart to skip all-day tours that may spend lots of time visiting monuments or museums that you’re not interested in.

Getting the most of museum trips

Some museums have so many exhibits that you could spend days exploring them. But if you’re on a bit of a time crunch, you’ll have to be strategic about which ones you visit. Why not ask a couple of museum staffers for their suggestions? They’re the best people to ask about which exhibits are worth your time — and which you could probably do without. Also, when visiting a planetarium or an aquarium, you can generally skip the IMAX movies. They’re relatively time consuming, and they’re same all across the country.

Make the most of your time while you’re in D.C. And for professional, punctual rides while you’re in town, you can always rely on Affinity!
